RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach in the areas of Adapted Physical Education, Coaching Education and Adventure Education in Teacher Education. The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that would include but are not limited to [Introduction to Adapted Physical Activity, Assessment in Adapted Physical Education, Teaching Strategies in Adapted Physical Activity, Adapted Physical Education Practicum, Coaching Techniques, Fly Fishing, Ice Fishing, Paddle Sports, and/or other outdoor pursuits as deemed necessary by the department
- Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs.
- Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
- Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
- Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.
- Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community. Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve.
- Assist with programmatic accreditation.
- Develop and maintain community partnerships that facilitate adapted physical activity programs in the Winona region.
- Provide teaching support to both the Coaching and Adventure Education Minors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Earned Master's Degree in Physical Education with Adapted Physical Education emphasis
- [PK-12 teaching experience in Adapted Physical Education
- Elementary Physical Education teaching experience
- Secondary (6th-12th grade) Physical Education teaching experience
- Documented Public School Scholastic Coaching experience in a variety of sports
- Community based Adapted physical activity programming experience for persons with disabilities across the lifespan
- Experience with adapted sport leagues
- Use of technology to implement qualification assessments in adapted physical education
- Ability to use instructional and coaching technologies such as NearPod, Google Classroom, Hudl and Hudl Technique
Preferred:
- Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
- Demonstrated leadership to create and evaluate adapted physical activity experiences for adapted physical education minors
- Ability to use online instruction learning platforms
- Adventure Education background with climbing walls and ropes course training
