Dakota State University is seeking applications for an Administrative System Developer. This position reports to the Director of Administrative Systems and Development and is responsible for supporting end users with day-to-day processes and reporting needs, troubleshooting issues, and implementing new systems.

 The position could be on campus in Madison, SD or work remotely within the United States.

Must be authorized to work in the US. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing reporting requests and developing logic to complete the requests.
  • Developing documentation and providing training as needed.
  • Providing support for routine requests from campus system users and users in the SD BOR system.
  • Running daily processes and verifying successful completion.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve or explain problems reported from campus units.
  • Testing new software/processes and updates to system.
  • Implementing new system-wide information systems for the University through setup and testing.

 


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years programming experience.
  • Experience working in a higher education academic environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of database design preferably in an Oracle environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL and related applications.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and work on multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate directly with peers, managers, and clients while leading development to a completed and successful solution.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner application is preferred.
  • Experience programming with IBM Cognos or other business intelligence development tools is preferred.
