Job Description:

The University of Florida's Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a board certified/board eligible emergency medicine or pediatric emergency physician to join our residency leadership team. We are looking for an energetic medical educator with a passion for developing future leaders in emergency medicine. The UF emergency medicine residency is a 3-year program, matching 14 residents per year. Residency graduates go on to take positions as academic faculty, community physicians, and academic fellows. Education faculty receive career development funds and are eligible for intramural and extramural training opportunities to develop their skills.

In addition to a thriving residency, the Department of Emergency Medicine supports 9 clinical fellowship programs. Our faculty are academically productive, with research interests in multiple areas including global health, medical education, resuscitation medicine, and ultrasound. Faculty hold leadership positions within the institution and serve in national leadership positions.

The successful candidate will be excited to join our growing Department of Emergency Medicine in a non-tenure accruing position at the rank of Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The successful candidate will hold a University of Florida appointment and become part of our current group of 40 general EM faculty and 9 full time PEM faculty. Rank will be based on experience and education.

Roles and responsibilities include:
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the residency program.
  • Meaningfully contributes to program evaluation committee and clinical competency meetings.
  • Works with the residency leadership team to align residency practices with ACGME accreditation standards.
  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of the residents.
  • Meaningfully participates in all program site reviews and annual program reviews.
  • Orients residents to program expectations.
  • Conducts semi-annual reviews with the residents.
  • Works with the residency team to develop novel curricula and ensure alignment between training and national requirements / trends.
  • Meets ACGME scholarly activity requirements and works with residency team to oversee resident research projects and papers.
  • Attends resident conferences and actively participates in resident education.
  • Takes on additional duties as directed.
Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

All physicians must be Emergency Medicine or Pediatric Emergency Medicine ABEM/ABOEM Board Certified/Board-Eligible.
