Job Description

The University of Missouri’s Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health building seeks an experienced Senior Business Support Specialist to help manage post-award grants and other sponsored programs along with different departmental functions. This position will work closely with the NextGen Business Manager to assist investigators with many tasks.

Key duties performed by this position will include:

• Administer financial and procurement processes for all NextGen personnel.

• Promote proactive financial and grant compliance

• Oversee grant and sponsored programs activity with the NextGen Business Manager.

This involves, but is not limited to :
o Review and interpret the award terms and conditions to initiate award set-up, working with the Principal Investigator (PI) to determine expenditure allowability and compliance requirements
o Assist PI’s in establishing and monitoring subrecipients for compliance with award terms and conditions
o Provide project expense projections to determine need for additional funds, potential overruns and requests to sponsors
o Recommend appropriate corrections or budget transfers when needed
o Collaborate with the NextGen Business Manager and Office of Sponsored Programs Administration to resolve complex accounting issues
o Ensure timely closeout of all expired projects and subawards through the coordination of fiscal and administrative resources

• Update and disseminate PI financial reports for grant and non-grant accounts

• Examine postings in general ledger for accuracy and maintenance of adequate balances

• Identify potential overdraft situations and devise expenditure plans to avert cost deficits and disallowances

• Assist in analyzing and developing improved policies, plans, methods, procedures, and systems for efficient and compliant post-award administration

Salary

$19.50 - $24.00/hr

Grade: GGS 8

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in post-award grant management, PeopleSoft understanding, and familiarity with the Uniform Guidance.

2 years working with faculty members and Principal Investigators (PIs) at a research university.
