Job Summary

The Academic Data & Analytics Manager will serve as a central point of operations for the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences (CNBHS) by managing key operational processes, data management, and reporting to support program assessment and planning. Reporting to the CNBHS Director of Operations, the Manager applies technological solutions and data analysis methods to standardize, improve, and streamline academic processes and reporting. The Manager will collaborate with the CNBHS Operations team, Academic Advisors, program leadership, and other CNBHS stakeholders to understand their needs pertaining to data management, set and manage deadlines, and provide support in key data-related operations initiatives. The Manager will also work with cross functional teams at Simmons and with our partner 2U to manage programmatic and College-level data needs across functions.

This is a full-time, 40 hour/week exempt position that is benefits-eligible. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. This position may be eligible for partial or full remote work.

Data and Analytics Management
  • Work to align and transition individualized data management processes and practices within CNBHS departments for systematic consistency in conjunction with University and CNHBS policies;
  • Create and maintain a master data map that identifies what data is needed, where it is located, how often it is updated, and other data demographic points that arise, under the guidance and input from CNBHS Leadership;
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a data repository to support CNBHS strategy and operations;
  • Prepare reports and end products such as data dashboards, models, and/or slide presentations, to support informed decision making;
  • Support data collection process for CNBHS faculty grant funding applications; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Dean.


Academic Operations
  • Identify and implement new data-driven processes, in collaboration with Department Chairs and CNBHS Leadership, to improve the student experience based on sound data collection and distribution;
  • Help CNBHS Leadership make informed decisions and answer mission-critical questions through comprehensive, timely, and accessible data;
  • Maintaining accurate data for each department, including but not limited to registration audits, dashboards, enrollment forecasts, course evaluations, utilization reports, etc.;
  • Make recommendations for academic process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy of outcomes;
  • Support Workday Student implementation and serve as member of the Academic Services team;
  • Hire, train, and supervise student workers, as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Dean.


Reporting and Market Research
  • Coordinate data gathering, data entry and reporting across CNBHS for required academic reporting including annual reports and accreditation reports (e.g. CCNE, AACN, ABAI, CAPTE, ACEND, ACS, etc.);
  • Collaborate with other University departments to coordinate data acquisition and academic reporting such as retention and attrition modeling/analyses, as well as University-level or program-level surveys (e.g. US & World News Reports, NECHE, etc);
  • Research, analyze, and synthesize current trends in CNBHS academic disciplines to expand knowledge base of current and future academic offerings, and oversee the Annual Report process;
  • Provide data to departments to support problem-solving efforts, increase CNBHS academic rankings, and identify new opportunities;
  • Liaise with other University departments to stay current on updates and changes to processes that impact course support, student enrollment, data needs, and assessment; and
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations and/or Dean.


Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or minimum 5 years of comparable work experience;
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in higher education;
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (specifically advanced formulas, pivot tables and charts);
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Gmail, and Gcal), along with an aptitude and interest in learning new tools and software;
  • Experience with extracting data from enterprise systems and ability to familiarize self with new databases to combine data sets for reporting and analytical purposes;
  • Knowledge of Workday is a plus;
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, and proven experience taking initiative and having ownership of projects;
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and problem solving abilities;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality; and
  • Proven ability to perform duties with a high level of professionalism, collaboration, flexibility, discretion, judgment, diplomacy, and tact.
