Lab Preparator - Marion, OH

Job Description

Promotes laboratory environmental health and safety, orders laboratory materials and maintains inventories for teaching and research labs, prepares chemical solutions, uses sterile techniques to prepare microbiology mediums, petri dishes and plates, identifies and maintains preserved biological samples and microscopy slides, assists in the preparation of animal dissections for labs and exams, maintains live animals, plants, and the microbiology collections, and maintains general lab equipment. Science and engineering purchasing and maintenance.  Participates in outreach and engagement programs and tallgrass prairie coordination.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Level Degree

Required Qualifications

Minimum Education Required: B.A. or B.S. in Biology or a related area

Experience

Working knowledge of biology, general and organic chemistry, and any other laboratory course offered. Must be able to identify major groups of animals, plants, fungi, protists, and major vertebrate organ systems.

Desired but not required

Ability to do tallgrass prairie coordination and prepare public outreach programs.

Salary: $36,000 - $43,000
