Job Purpose
The Center for Animal Law Studies (CALS) at Lewis & Clark Law School seeks a Program Coordinator to provide administrative support. The Program Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of CALS and works closely with the Associate Director of CALS and the Director of the Animal Law Program. The Program Coordinator provides administrative support at all degree levels of the animal law program and logistical and planning support for CALS events, including for speakers, student events, and other on-campus and off-campus events throughout the calendar year. The position also assists with marketing and CALS outreach.

What You'll Do
Administrative
- Provide Administrative support for CALS, including its Animal
Law Program.
- Work closely with CALS’ Executive and Associate Director and
the Director of the Animal Law Program on all aspects of CALS and
the program
- Serve as logistical coordinator for all events hosted by CALS,
including conferences, visitors, lectures, webinars, trainings, and
more.
- Support other aspects of CALS, such as fellowships and
clerkships.
- Support faculty, administration, animal law student groups, and
other events at and outside of the law school as needed.
- Provide support for online and in-person animal law degree
students, including assisting with marketing and recruiting,
communications, registration, scholarship awards, curriculum, and
running and tracking attendance reports.
- Be responsible for accepting and processing applications for
online and in-person animal law degree candidates and for tracking
registrations, including for CALS’ Animal Law Summer Program, which
includes JD, visiting, and auditing students.
- Be responsible for creating and maintaining student files for
online and in-person animal law degree students.
- Be a Lewis & Clark College Designated School Official (DSO)
for CALS’ in-person Animal Law students.
- Support CALS’ fellowship, scholarship, and clerkship
programs.
- Serve as a resource for potential and current online and
in-person animal law degree students' inquiries.
- Work with campus staff and third parties to support needs of
animal law degree students living in campus-owned housing
- Provide all logistical support for CALS’ various events on and
off campus, including conferences, lectures, faculty visits,
student events, and special events.
- Position may also be called upon to assist faculty and/or help
with other law school events and projects.
- Work with CALS leadership on updating all marketing materials,
including degree and certificate details and event publicity in
print and on Web, including updating CALS’ Web pages, creating
online event registration pages, and assisting with outreach
marketing efforts and communications.
- Assist with preparing reports and projections for online and
in-person animal law degree students, and track progression towards
degrees for online and in-person animal law degree students.
- Attend all animal law meetings and prepare minutes as
requested.
- Conduct research as requested by leadership for various CALS
projects (e.g, enrollment statistics), update and track program
annual work plan, prepare and update task lists for all events and
activities, update animal law degree student and alumni
databases.
- Maintain program files, maintain animal law degree student
applications and files (electronically) in compliance with FERPA,
send task reminders for work plan progress and various other tasks
related to keeping the program office and files organized.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- 2 years administrative support experience
- Proficient computer skills, including word processing,
electronic filing and planning tools, spreadsheet, budget and
database management system.
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to set priorities, multi-task and be flexible and
cooperative
- Familiarity with online tasks, such as updating Web pages (or
willingness to learn)
- Experience proofreading & editing
- Bachelor’s degree
- Interest, background and/or experience in animal protection
and/or animal law
- High school diploma plus 4 years of directly related job
experience OR Associate's degree and 3 years of directly related
job experience OR Bachelor's degree and 2 years of directly related
job experience.
