AUIS is an independent, nonprofit, coeducational, English-speaking university founded in 2007 for the public benefit and located in Sulaimani, the cultural capital of the Kurdistan region in Iraq and a UNESCO-designated City of Literature.
The University’s expansive marble-and-glass campus has 50 classrooms, high-tech computer labs, library, auditoriums, dining facilities, and sports facilities. Our 1,300 students are taught in English. Approximately 30% of full-time faculty are from the United States, another 30% from Iraq, and the balance from more than 20 other countries. POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Business Administration Department at AUIS invites applications for the position of Lecturer or Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor of Business Administration. The successful candidate will be required to teach a variety of courses related to general business, management, and marketing. The regular teaching load is four courses per spring and fall semester with a maximum of three preps each. Opportunities for short-term graduate teaching or compressed summer and winter teaching may be available for additional compensation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Developing new courses as needed
- Student advising, particularly relating to course registrations
- Participating in service activities and faculty governance
- Maintaining professional scholarship
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate exhibits the following characteristics:
- An earned Ph.D. in Management or a related field at the time of appointment, with the ability to teach a variety of different courses in the areas of general business, management, and marketing.
- Applicants with Master’s degrees are considered for Lecturer positions; in exceptional cases, they may be hired as Assistant Professor of Practice.
- A distinguished record of teaching in the broad areas of general business, management, and marketing.
- Evidence of the ability to generate quality research or equivalent intellectual contributions.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English required.
- Experience with IACBE or AACSB accreditation preferred.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity obtained from living in more than one country.
THE DEPARTMENT
The AUIS Business Administration Department offers undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with concentrations in Accounting, Economics, Management, and other fields. The department also offers a successful MBA degree. The curricula are supported by state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, and facilities, by experienced and student-focused faculty, and by strong links with the community. AUIS business graduates are highly sought after by regional and international employers.
COMPENSATION
The compensation package is competitive and includes base salary, subsidized housing, annual airfare, subsidized health insurance, a generous holiday and leave policy, opportunities for consulting, and other elements.
