The Office of Academic Success Initiatives and Support at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Director of Academic Initiatives (full-time, 12 month) position. The Director of Academic Initiatives provides direct leadership to staff and directs the daily operation of multiple academic success initiatives and special projects. Major Responsibilities: Leads in development, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of academic and experiential learning initiatives, including special project. Directs the daily administrative activities and coordinates support for operations. Designs and implements recruitment, selection, and engagement strategies for initiative participants

Required Education: Master’s degree in education, training, higher education administration, or a related field.

Required Qualifications: Considerable experience evaluating services and assessing educational programs. Considerable customer service experience in an educational or business environment. Considerable experience working in a higher education setting supporting students and faculty; considerable experience working with diverse student populations. Considerable knowledge of best practices for experiential learning and high-impact practices in higher education; considerable experience designing, implementing, and evaluating experiential learning and high-impact practices. Demonstrated ability to create and manage complex work plans; demonstrated ability to prioritize in a multi-task environment and exercise independent judgment. Demonstrated ability to create and present workshops. Demonstrated ability to synthesize program needs and interpret data. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Highly developed written and verbal skills with an ability to effectively communicate information to faculty, students and university and external constituents. Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate professional and student employees.
