Summary/Objective

The Theater Services Coordinator is responsible for managing all of SOC’s theater operations, and for This position is responsible for all technical support, escalating technical issues to outside contractors as needed. The incumbent also functions as the School of Communication's main producer and videographer for SOC’s theater. This position will also liaise with the SOC Event Planning Manager to coordinate, schedule and manage outside client events that take place in the Doyle Forman Theater.

Essential Functions
  1. Customer Support:Coordinates the operation of the Doyle Forman Theater audio/visual systems, including data import, export and transfer; video recording and playback; media projection, video conferencing and any other future technologies used in media production that may be implemented in the Doyle Forman Theater. Manages the setup, production, and strike of all events in SOC’s theater. Troubleshoots technical problems. Initiates and implements operational "best practices", and coordinates with service contractors to handle major technical problems.
  2. Media Production Support:Coordinates with Manager of Technology and Events Manager re: video/audio production of SOC faculty and/or outside client-based events; acts as producer/director/videographer/editor of said productions. Maintains SOC video/audio archives. Coordinates with Manager of Technology and Media Services Manager re: video/audio production of SOC student, curriculum-based and/or faculty-produced events or productions. Acts as producer/director/videographer/editor of said productions. Responsible for maintaining certain aspects of SOC's digital asset management database, and media presence as they relate specifically to SOC curricular activities.
  3. Supervision of Part-time Support Staff: Hires, trains and supervises part-time and student staffers.
  4. Other Duties:As assigned in support of SOC strategic priorities.

Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree with specialization in theater and video production, theater or television, or similar field.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Six months or more of supervisory experience
  • Expertise with video projection equipment, simple theater lighting setups, and microphone placement as well as live sound mixing.
  • Experience in video pre-production, production, and post-production, and organizing all assets (including release forms and other supporting documentation) in the online archive.
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud programs related to video, photo and graphic design (i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, Premiere).
  • Must be able to lift video equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
