Job Description:

The College of Saint Rose invites applications and nominations for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Communications in the School of Arts and Humanities, beginning August 2022. This is a one-year appointment continuing through May 2023. A Visiting Faculty member may be offered an appointment of one or more additional years after successfully teaching one academic year.

Drawing from a long, robust learning tradition, the School of Arts & Humanities is a dynamic community of experienced and creative artists, musicians, writers, and researchers who prepare graduates to think critically, communicate effectively, and address the needs of our increasingly complex society.

Responsibilities will include teaching 12 credits (3/4 courses) per semester of undergraduate courses in Communications from among the following courses, and other courses based on areas of expertise:

COM 105: Introduction to Mass Media
COM 217: Multimedia Production
COM 318: Audio Production
COM 319: Video Production
COM 417: Advanced Video Production

Additional responsibilities include the maintenance of studio spaces, office hours, preparation of course syllabi consistent with College and School policies, and engaging within the School regarding curriculum, teaching expectations, assessment, grading and related matters to courses taught.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have an MFA/Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Communications, or a closely related academic field, at the time of appointment on August 15, 2022.

An ABD from an accredited institution in Communications, or a closely related academic field, will be considered if the degree will be completed within 1 year from date of appointment.

Additional requirements include a minimum of one year teaching experience (two semesters of courses as teacher of record) and five years of video/film production experience; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching; and, clearly superior written and oral communication skills.
