Position Function:

The Forest and Wildlife Research Center/College of Forest Resources, Mississippi State University is seeking to fill a 9 or 12 month, Tenure-track, fulltime, Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Position with research, teaching and service responsibilities in the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts.

Salary Grade : UC

One of three departments in the College of Forest Resources, the Department of Sustainable Bioproducts activities include undergraduate/graduate instruction, research and service programs in natural resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include: develop and conduct a program of teaching, research, and service in the Sustainable Bioproducts Department and College of Forest Resources. Program area emphasis will be in sustainable bioproducts, forest and natural resources, or an affiliated area. The candidate will be expected to build a nationally recognized program, collaborate within the Department, College, and University as well as with external stakeholders; teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, assist in programmatic curriculum development, provide internal and external service and outreach, and perform other departmental responsibilities as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher learning in forest products, forest and/or natural resources, or an allied scientific discipline as appropriate. The applicant must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and will be expected to develop a national reputation in program as well as maintain a focus on adding value to state-, regional-, and national-based stakeholders.

Particular consideration will be given to candidate with expertise, experience, and/or high potential in the topics outlined above along with demonstrated experience in teaching, research, and/or service at a Land Grant university

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Forest Products. Skilled in using and conducting programs through multiple media avenues (internet, interactive video, distance learning, etc.) are desirable. Salary and rank commiserate with years of experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Physical requirements will be consistent with those associated with the incumbent's research and service program.
