Warwick is one of the world’s leading universities for teaching and research. With an absolute commitment to excellence and an ambition to challenge the status quo we’ve inspired positive change, sparked innovation and created opportunity across our local community, our region, the country and beyond.  We’re incredibly proud of our global reputation as a centre of excellence for learning and research. It is our mission to point the way ahead and open our doors even wider – to work hand in hand with industry, to connect with academics and partners around the world, to bring opportunity to our region and our country, and to engage students, staff and communities from all walks of life, all parts of society, all cultural backgrounds.

As we go through the process of refreshing our university strategy, setting ourselves the task of leading the way ahead in everything we do, we are keen to exploit the University Library’s strengths and to further develop its distinctive identity, positioning Warwick at the forefront of academic libraries nationally and internationally. We are therefore looking to appoint someone to the distinctive position of University Librarian, who will drive the continued development of the collections and world-class Library services for the University, its academic community and beyond, including a focus on digital transformation and institutional information management. It is a foundational role in an institution that has as its purpose the creation, curation and dissemination of knowledge to a diverse community of stakeholders.

The University Librarian will play a key role in bridging so many of the essential components of a university, and the successful candidate will need to be able to connect education and research, students and staff, academic and professional services, the traditional and the innovative and the internal and the external. They will bring an understanding of the current and future landscape for the dissemination of research and the ability to safeguard and strengthen Warwick’s position in the wider academic information eco system. They will have excellent communication skills and highly developed intellectual acuity, as well as the experience, track record, and clarity of vision to explore new possibilities and maximise key opportunities.

We are seeking an individual who has a passion and understanding of the transformative power of education and a record of contributing to an inclusive workplace, for valuing diverse opinions and promoting best practice in equality, diversity and inclusion.
