Position Purpose

This position works with the Director of The Exeter Fund in planning the organization and implementation of The Exeter Fund and the Reunion and Non-Reunion Gift Program. This position focuses on leadership donor fundraising and class giving participation based on Exeter’s culture.

Key Accountabilities Fundraising and Development Leadership
  • Oversees both reunion and non-reunion gift campaigns for The Exeter Fund to increase annual unrestricted giving and individual and class participation.
  • Personally cultivates and solicits donors/prospects at the leadership gift level ($2,500+) to The Exeter Fund.
  • Strategically builds and manages class committees by identifying, recruiting, training and motivating alumni volunteer fundraising leaders.
  • Hold conference/video calls with volunteers to manage class goal targets and peer to peer solicitations.
  • Plans and implements reunion giving campaigns, including coordinating major gift solicitations with members of the Major Gifts staff and reunion fundraising volunteers.
  • Collaborates with The Exeter Fund team to create and rally alumni to participate in Giving Day efforts throughout the fiscal year.
  • Stewards both alumni fundraising volunteers and alumni donors.
  • Works closely with The Director of The Exeter Fund to oversee the budget and provide additional support with leadership needs and assignments.
  • Implement strategies for segmented constituencies to increase level and consistency of gifts.
  • Attends events, both on and off campus.
Strategic and Administrative
  • Develops strategies for giving and increasing participation of alumni.
  • Assists with the planning and staffing of Exeter Leadership Weekend and reunion weekends as assigned.
  • Manages volunteer training within EverTrue, an online tool for volunteer fundraisers.
  • Contributes to the communications strategic plan for The Exeter Fund to help reach overall annual fundraising goals.
  • Works collaboratively with administrators and other departments within Institutional Advancement.
  • Participates in planning meetings, accepting special assignments, assisting colleagues and providing support for all ongoing programs and operations as needed.
  • Provides support for the volunteers of reunion/non-reunion classes, including the coordination of all solicitations.
  • Acknowledges gifts to the Exeter Fund, including designations.
  • Ability to request and analyze data to make strategic, programmatic decisions to increase retention and giving.
  • Assists with the preparation of periodic reports, including the year-end Report of Giving.
  • Hires, trains, assesses and manages Program Assistant, Program Manager and Assistant Director of The Exeter Fund; delegate and guide projects and responsibilities.
  • Fills in for the Director of The Exeter Fund when the Director is travelling or otherwise unavailable, including but not limited to attending meetings, liaison with other department heads, and providing supervision to The Exeter Fund team.
Computer & Other Special Needs for Position

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, Email and the internet.

Direct/Indirect Reports

Supervises office personnel –Program Assistant, Program Manager and Assistant Director.

Internal & External Contacts



Frequent contact with alumni, parents and friends of the Academy, students, Dean of Students office, PEA administrative and academic offices, I.T., faculty and staff. External contacts could also include prospective students and parents, outside organizations, and visitors.

Position Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field required.
Experience
  • 5+ years experience in fundraising
  • Previous experience in a college or private secondary school development office working with a volunteer-based organization preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  1. Must have the ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
  2. Ability to lift and transport up to 25lbs without assistance.
  3. Ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend.
  4. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  5. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example using a keyboard.
  6. Communication skills using the spoken and written word.
  7. Ability to see with normal parameters.
  8. Ability to use a visual display terminal with continuous wrist movement on a keyboard.
  9. Ability to hear within normal range.
  10. Must be physically and capable of performing multiple tasks under extended heavy pressure and be able to function in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements
  1. Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
  2. Clean Driving record (reviewed annually).
