Doane University, a liberal arts university in Crete, Nebraska, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication with expertise in Video Production and Digital Media to start August 2022. A Ph.D. is preferred, ABD or M.A. with significant professional experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will teach a range of introductory and advanced courses such as Basic Video Production, Basic Audio Production, Introduction to Digital Media, and Multiplatform Journalism. There will be opportunities for intradepartmental and interdepartmental collaboration, interdisciplinary projects with the Art and Theatre departments, as well as teaching special topics courses in an innovative general education program. The ideal candidate will have the skills to initiate and establish community contacts, educate students about careers, and engage students in internship, research and/or service-learning. Must demonstrate a commitment to teaching in an undergraduate liberal arts setting.
The Communication Department at Doane offers majors in Strategic Communication and Media Communication. The department is in the process of reimagining our offerings and student needs to better prepare students for communicating in and producing a variety of media for multiple platforms. We specifically seek candidates who are highly motivated and excited to engage in designing the future of our curriculum and departmental offerings.
