Job Summary:


The Information Technology Division is looking for an experiences person for Security Technician. This position reports to the Deputy CIO for Enterprise Computing and infrastructure. The successful applicant must have experience in public safety security infrastructure which includes IP Video Surveillance, Access Control Systems, and Emergency Phones. Will work closely with vendors for the systems used on campus to ensure they provide the needed services. Works in a team environment and achieves outstanding service consistently through both proactive and regular communication. Performs related duties as assigned, as necessary, or as requested by the management. Stays abreast of new technologies, technologies and where appropriate, deploys school-wide technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Install, program, and maintain electronic security systems including but not limited to access control systems, emergency phone systems, and video management system.
  • Responsible for scheduled maintenance, cleaning and minor repairs of adjustments to electronic devices, including but not limited to access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection devices. Keeps equipment updated and operational, meeting required local, state, federal, and ADA requirements.
  • Perform quality Control inspections.
  • Primary point of contract for service requests on all systems associated with the Public Safety Department. Responds to phone, email, voicemail, verbal, and written work orders. Issue and track work orders and work closely with vendors to assure timely resolution of services issues.
  • Supports security systems integration, mapping and software updates and helps train other public safety personnel in the use of these systems.
  • Assists on new projects in both existing areas and new construction helping with security assessments, vendor selection, technology upgrades, product selections, testing, field verification of systems and inspection of work in progress for compliance with standards.
  • Attend project meetings pertaining to security integration.
  • Make recommendations for security equipment and systems.
  • Coordinates low voltage electrical work of contractors related to repair, renovation, and maintenance activities of systems, including, intrusion detection systems and equipment, video surveillance systems and equipment and access control systems and equipment.
  • Obtains quotes for repair and/or installation of systems district wide. Defines options and estimate cost, sets, priorities and schedules for constructions activities.
  • Maintains inventory of essential parts and equipment to ensure repairs and installation in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
  • Two years of experience working with security systems including a broad spectrum of access control, intrusion and video surveillance systems, preferably Milestone and Lenel OnGuard.
  • Two years of experience working with IP and Analog security cameras, preferable Pelco.
  • Familiar with installation of magnetic locks, door strikes, DVR’s and IP cameras.
  • Able to program access control systems, DVR’s and IP cameras.
  • Proven networking knowledge-protocols, hardware, switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Window & Windows Server operation systems, including Active Directory.
  • Experience with MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Project and Other Microsoft products.
  • Good customer service and communications skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to work on ladders and man-lifts.
  • Must be able to read technical documents, drawings and prints.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours. Mostly day work. Nights, and weekend may be needed occasionally.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Access Control System Vendor Certifications Lenel OnGuard.
  • Video Management System Vendor Certification in Milestone.
