POSITION DETAILS

The Academic Program Coordinator, College Now Program, will report to the Academic Program Specialist. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Academic Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Works collaboratively with partner high school liaisons to advertise and promote the College Now program before each application cycle
  • Organizes and attends recruiting events at partner high schools
  • Supports the planning and organization of Fall, Spring, and Summer program orientation activities and conducts presentations
  • Reviews transcripts to identify student eligibility and supports the processing of documents
  • Admits and registers accepted students into their College Now classes
  • Monitors a select number of College Now classes each semester to track retention and success rates. Follows up with individual instructors regarding attendance and student academic performance.
  • Communicates progress updates, grade results, and other student issues to partner school liaisons
  • Organizes student leadership opportunities to aid in peer recruitment
  • Supports the development and maintenance of College Now program promotional materials (online and print)
  • Supports program data compilation for tracking and reporting purposes
  • Organize and supply the office to accommodate daily College Now program functions
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience recruiting high school students to academic, social, cultural and/or athletic programs
  • Experience interacting with administrators, counselors and/or teachers at school, community colleges, community boards or other organizations
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain and build relationships with key constituents
  • Experience and proficiency with CUNYfirst and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and be a positive and active member of the College Now Office staff

 

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

  • Provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's specialized academic program.
  • Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration
  • Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities
  • Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students
  • Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards
  • Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures
  • May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience ($43,520-$48,960).
