Job Description:

Clark University's School of Professional Studies seeks to fill the position of Program Lead (PL) for the rapidly growing Master of Science in Data Analytics (MSDA). As an integral member of the School of Professional Studies administrative and academic team, the PL will be responsible for the academic oversight and direction of the MSDA, including managing the program and course schedule, hiring and evaluating academically qualified faculty, and maintaining the alignment of curricular requirements to meet market needs.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, the PL will also interact with students in an administrative capacity: work with the Office of Graduate Admissions to recruit and evaluate admission applications; participate in events such as new student admission days, student orientation, capstone evaluation and SPS open house.  The PL reports to the Dean and engages collaboratively with all units and individuals within the school. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of content specialization, attention to detail, experience managing competing priorities, and excellent organizational skills.  The individual should be comfortable serving in a high profile academic lead role within an entrepreneurial market-facing unit. 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the point person through application submission to onboarding of students within the degree programs.
  • Responsible for managing course schedules, identifying and resolving student and faculty issues, and communicating with faculty, students, and other academic units on campus.
  • Identify qualified contingent faculty to teach courses.
  • Collaborate with their peer PL's and with the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs in SPS programs to create common courses and program synergies as needed.
  • Teach three courses annually in the MSDA degree program.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the University to ensure the student experience from the recruitment and admissions process, advising and degree completion is managed in a professional and high-quality student-focused fashion.
  • Successfully meet each established student cohort milestones (recruitment numbers, retention rates, etc.)
  • Provide part-time faculty leadership and oversight.
  • Coordinate with SPS's Academic and Faculty Affairs team to coordinate and plan professional development workshops for program faculty.

 

Requirements:

  • Relevant master's degree required; doctorate preferred. (Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, etc.)
  • Minimum 3-5 experience in teaching, academic administration or managing a Data Science or Analytics program.
  • Strong analytical skills to discern key information, grasp potential ramifications, eliminate obstacles and proactively and creatively problem solve.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships with all stakeholders (students, faculty, administrators)
  • Skills in course planning, academic policy interpretation and public speaking.
  • Ability to maintain focus on priorities while multitasking. Adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of personal ownership and accountability.
  • High degree of comfort working with diverse student and faculty populations from multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; attention to detail; ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
