Department/Division Introduction  

The Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is an exciting and entrepreneurial office within the College, which offers a wide variety of non-credit classes, training courses, seminars, webinars, and pathways to a degree program for community members and businesses. These offerings are focused on revitalizing careers, upgrading skills and credentials, growing businesses, and pursuing pastimes and passions. Additionally, the HCCC Center for Business & Industry (CBI) is the area leader in developing and delivering educational classes and programs for Hudson County’s businesses, organizations, and individuals. Position Summary/Job Description  

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President the of CEWD, the Administrative Assistant will assist in the daily operations of the division. The Administrative Assistant will have experience in independently prioritizing their own workload in determining how best to accomplish work objectives and provide administrative support. This senior support professional is also proactive in identifying, independently following-through, and resolving various issues. Manages special assignments and projects, as required. 

Required/Minimum Qualifications  

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree required with a minimum of three to five years of related work experience.  
  • Strong organization and recordkeeping skills required. 
  • Effective written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills required.  
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment and software required.  
  • Computer and keyboarding proficiency required with an emphasis on word processing, spreadsheet, and data management skills.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree required with a minimum of three to five years of related work experience.  
  • Strong organization and recordkeeping skills required. 
  • Effective written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills required.  
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment and software required.  
  • Computer and keyboarding proficiency required with an emphasis on word processing, spreadsheet, and data management skills.  
  • Basic courtesy, tact, diplomacy, negotiation and influence skills required, as well as effective problem-solving skills and the ability to operate independently, prioritize and organize own work schedule, multi-task, and meet established deadlines.  
  • An understanding of a commitment to the role of a comprehensive community college in an urban multi-cultural setting also required and prior experience working with non-traditional students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds are essential.
