The Course Content Initiatives Manager manages our programmatic activities to reduce required course material costs and assesses and communicates the value of the program to administration, departments, student groups, and faculty. They pursue mechanisms to improve seamless access to required course content for students across disciplines and instructional modalities when and where they need it. They advocate for increased uptake by faculty and academic programs of library-licensed, or other low/no cost content in their courses. They ensure data collection to improve the Libraries’ ability to demonstrate its value to and impact on student success and the teaching-learning enterprise. They seek out gaps in service and pursue resolutions that can leverage technology, novel licensing models, or other approaches to achieve solutions that scale. They provide point-of-need assistance and consultation as well as expert services, training, and support.  Internally, they also oversee select activities related to web content, including managing and maintaining a set of library-based textbook and required course materials pages. The Collection Management unit lead supervises this position.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Manages the Libraries’ work with the UA BookStores to acquire ebooks that faculty have requested for their courses through the textbook adoption process
  • Manages the Libraries’ work to acquire and deliver streaming video titles faculty have indicated are required for their courses
  • Provides point-of-need assistance, consultation, and implementation support to instructors, instructional designers, librarians, and staff regarding library-licensed required course materials.
  • Leads the libraries’ efforts to raise campus awareness of course material affordability issues and initiatives and to increase awareness, participation, and impact.
  • Manages assigned web content on the Libraries’ website.
  • The UA Libraries support the UA’s diversity and inclusiveness strategic initiatives designed to create an inclusive environment for all faculty, staff, and students.  The candidate is expected to support diversity and inclusiveness efforts in the department and college.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science or advanced degree in a related field
  • Three years of relevant work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with course material affordability initiatives
  • Experience with acquisitions and licensing practices, including ebook and/or streaming video licensing models
  • Experience editing web content or building websites
  • Experience with learning management systems or other analogous digital platforms
  • Experience working collaboratively across units
  • Experience supervising the work of others
