Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.

Responsibilities
  • Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
  • Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
  • Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
  • Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
  • Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
  • May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
  • Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
Small Business Consulting (60%)
  • Counsel business owners and prospective business owners with the purpose of assisting their enterprises to grow, expand and become more profitable.
  • Meet core Small Business Administration (SBA) metrics connected to counseling performance.
  • Assist the SBDC Director in overseeing the counseling activities as they deliver business counseling services to SBDC clients.
  • Provide one-on-one counseling to small business owners/managers and prospective entrepreneurs across a broad spectrum of business topics, including new product development, business planning, innovation/technology transfer, marketing, commercialization, financing and other topics.
  • Perform financial analysis of business records and provide instruction to business owners and pre-venture businesses and assist in acquisition financing.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client records and counseling sessions.
Maintain, Support, and Develop External Contacts (20%)
  • Develop productive working relationships with faculty and staff at UW- Oshkosh, UW-Green Bay, UW-Stevens Point, and UW Extension; with leaders and members of business and professional organizations; and with other SBDC personnel throughout Wisconsin.
  • Build and support relationships with economic development agencies throughout the Small Business Development Center's territory.
  • May serve as the SBDC spokesperson to some groups and participate in and/or lead one or more internal and external professional advisory groups.
Program Management and Event Coordination (10%)
  • Create and manage entrepreneurial-based non-credit programming, including seminars, as needed relating to accounting, business startups, business planning, marketing, human resource issues, and other business-related topics.
  • Conduct needs assessments and market research, program planning and development, instructor recruitment and coaching, contract negotiation, Memoranda of Understanding development, budgeting, reporting, on-site coordination of programs and program evaluation.
  • Develop programs which meet the needs of small business in order to coordinate preparation of instructional materials for participants; communication with guest speakers, potential partners, and program participants regarding program content and event logistics; provide logistical and follow-up support for events.
Other Duties and Responsibilities (10%)
  • Participate in all internal meetings and other meetings and/or training through UW Oshkosh and the UW System as requested.
  • Represent SBDC and UW Oshkosh through external meetings and serve on campus-wide committees and external initiatives as appointed.
  • Provide consistent and valuable input into administrative processes and procedures, resource application, staff utilization and training, and other operational areas.
  • Assist in employee training and orientation within the SBDC, as requested.
  • Participate in regional and national networks on planning and program development as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the SBDC Director at UW Oshkosh.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen and business strategy knowledge.
  • Ability to coach and provide training to clients using effective interpersonal communication.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain adaptable and flexible to different situations and changes.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to learn new systems, software, and processes quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related-field.
  • Master’s degree preferred, especially in a business-related field.
  • Experience in owning and/or managing a small business or working with small businesses and entrepreneurs is desirable.
  • Financial institution and/or product commercialization experience is desirable.
