Basic
Function
Performs basic repair and maintenance work on limited variety of
plant,
building and grounds equipment. Paint indoors and out to maintain
the Colleges appearance. Perform grounds work, watering, weeding,
and care of trees, plants, etc. Also is required to be a member of
the snow team.
Essential
Functions:
1. To perform duties necessary to maintain the physical structure
and plant
equipment of the College. Mechanical repairs, carpentry, painting,
plumbing,
electrical, HVAC and other maintenance duties are the primary
responsibilities.
A portion of this persons time will also be spent on Facility
improvement and
modernization projects.
2. Works independently with a minimum of supervision.
3. Performs required repairs of mechanical and electrical equipment. 4. Interprets instructions, specifications and blueprints. 5. Performs rough carpentry. 6. Performs both routine repairs and new installations.
7. Performs routine vehicle maintenance.
8. Performs basic painting. 9. Accomplishes minor cementing and plastering.
10. Properly uses and cares for all hand and power tools required to perform required tasks. 11. Observances safe working procedures.
12. Recommends spare parts maintain inventory and obtain parts equipment through proper procedures ie. fill out out purchase requests and get supervisory approval. 13. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge:
1. High school or trade diploma is desirable.
2. Maryland drivers license required.
3. Possess or can obtain a Maryland pool operators license within one year. Experience: Minimum of three experience in maintenance trades as described above.
Skills/Aptitude: Numerical ability Spatial ability Form perception Motor coordination Finger dexterity Manual dexterity Color discrimination Working Conditions:
1. Extensive walking throughout entire campus on a daily basis works inside outside of the building facilities. 2. Lifts, carries, pushes or pulls a variety of tools, materials and equipment. 3. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. 4. Climbs, balances, stoops, kneels and crouches to gain access to equipment. 5. Exposed to wet and cold conditions. Exposed to noise and vibration from operating equipment. 6. Possible exposure to toxic refrigerants and chemicals.
7. Good distant vision in one eye and ability to read without strain printed material the size of typewritten characters are required-glasses. 8. Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid is required. 9. Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances. 10. Quick and positive reaction in emergency situations.
11. Occasional extended work periods.
