Salary for Announcement
The salary range for this position is $34,000 – $51,100. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty, and training. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is seeking applicants for an administrative assistant position. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the department. Duties include supporting the day-to-day operations of the department front office and advising students regarding prerequisites for lower division math classes.
Duties/Responsibilities
Department Operations (60%)
- Provide customer service in a fast-paced high-volume environment by serving as first point of contact for students and other visitors of the main office in a front desk position
- Monitor voicemail and departmental email accounts to effectively and efficiently answer/route inquiries
- Monitor and order office supplies and equipment
- Ensure confidentiality of information
- Process student override requests
- Advise students in the resolution of enrollment and scheduling problems
- Instruct students on appropriate course placement
- Retrieve and distribute mail to faculty and staff
- Provide administrative support to the chair, faculty, and department unit
- Data entry, organizing and archiving files, and assisting with projects as assigned by the chair
- Assist with department external communications; this includes content development, editing, and maintenance of website and social media
- Assist with updating department signage throughout the department space, including the Majors Lounge and Math Tutor Lab
Required Qualifications
- Professional experience providing general clerical, office, or administrative support
- Experience providing customer service and working directly with the public and internal staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the general public
- Professional experience as an administrative assistant in a higher education institution or similar environment
- Experience using Banner or comparable student information system
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and within other collaborative work situations
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, OneDrive, etc.
Administrative assistants work in an office environment and work a standard work week. There is an option to work remotely a maximum of two days per week.
