Job/Department Summary:

Under general supervision, incumbent will perform a full range of journey-level locksmith work to ensure the necessary security for University buildings and to meet applicable building and safety codes, and regulations.

Facilities Management and Services (FMS) is a large, complex department consisting of approximately 155 employees working various shifts and providing diverse administrative and operational services campus wide.

Mandatory Vaccinations:

The CSU requires faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be fully immunized against COVID-19 or have received a medical or religious exemption. Selected candidates should be prepared to comply with this requirement.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:
  • Bilingual
  • Licensed or certified in locksmithing.
  • Journey-level experience in the design, installation, programming and maintenance of Continental Instruments Card Access and/or Key Watcher Asset Control Boxes.
  • Certified with journey level experience with Medeco Biaxial Key System.
  • Experience with key management software.
  • Experience working on a college campus.
Required Education and Experience:

The knowledge and abilities listed above would normally be acquired through any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills such as the equivalent to that acquired through completion of a locksmith's apprenticeship program.

Time Base: Full-time- 1.0

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm.

Salary and Benefits Information:

$5,402 - $6,904 per month / $64,824 - $82,848 annually (New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning of the salary range)

Additional Information:

California State University, Chico, in accordance with CSU policy, requires that the successful candidate complete a background check (including a criminal records check, sexual offender registry check, and/or fingerprinting) prior to assuming this position. The person holding this position is considered a “Limited Mandated Reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment.

The duties of this position will include participation in a decision that may have a material/financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, this is a “designated position” under the California State University’s Conflict of Interest Code and the incumbent will be required to file a Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest and is subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission. (Group/Category: Procurement Card Holder, 2) Note this designation is applicable only if Procurement Card is issued.

Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Driver's License as well as continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Driver's Training course.

The selected candidate must pass a post-offer pre-employment physical examination.
