Student Outreach and Support is seeking an Associate Director of Student Outreach & Suppport who will report to the Senior Director of Student Outreach & Support. This role is responsible for supervising Case Managers in SOS who support and work to meet the needs of Homewood undergraduate students who have physical or mental health difficulties, financial issues, social adjustment or other personal difficulties in order to assist them in their personal wellbeing and academic success.

As part of this, the Associate Director will track Case Managers caseloads and elevate students of concern to Sr Director. The Associate Director will manage data tracking and will be responsible for creating reports on a semesterly and yearly basis.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
The Associate Director’s major responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Supervision & Case Management

  • Responsible for recruitment, selection, supervision, professional development, and consistent evaluation and review of three (3) fulltime Case Managers
  • Manage case assignment and creation in Advocate which includes uploading wellness reports and campus safety reports daily
  • Monitor, assess, and direct the Case Managers caseloads
  • Elevate students of concern to Sr. Director
  • Consult with faculty, staff, parents and families, students, and/or other concerned parties regarding concerns for a student’s wellbeing
  • Coordinate internal and external outreach to students to follow up on reports of concern
  • Carry small caseload of students; meet 1:1 with students initially and regularly to develop individual student success plans based on their unique circumstances and track their progress towards their personal and academic goals
  • Document all information and communication in Advocate
  • Support the Sr. Director as a thought partner with respect to departmental budget and resources, policies and procedures, strategic visioning, and operational decision-making

Collaboration with Campus Partners

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and campus partners
  • Serve on committees or attend various team meetings as directed, including but not limited to: CARE team, STAT team, COVID Support, Conduct Behavioral team
  • In conjunction with the Sr. Director, develop and implement a communications strategy (including website, mobile applications, social media, and other communications) in alignment with student affairs and central communication expectations
  • May be asked to respond on behalf of SOS to issues and concerns raised by students, families, and visitors in a manner consistent with the vision and values of the division and the university
  • May be asked to represent SOS or Student Life team on various campus committees, workgroups and teams, and at campus events throughout the academic year
  • Work with campus partners on connecting high risk students to off-campus resources
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the development of programs and trainings focused on healthy choices, resiliency, alcohol and drug education and awareness, cultural competence and diversity education

Assessment & Data Tracking

  • Conduct comprehensive assessment strategies of programs and services to ascertain achievement of learning outcomes as set by the SOS team and accompanying Student Affairs strategic vision
  • Assess campus community interests, needs, and resources, as well as national trends in case management
  • Participate in the evaluation and development of student programs and policies related to SOS and recommend changes as necessary based on the needs, interests and national trends
  • Create and steward SOS data tracking strategies related to services and students supported as well as case manager caseloads and commitments
  • Create and steward the data tracking sheet for students of concern; create high quality reports and presentation decks for internal and external publication/sharing on a semester and yearly basis
  • Share relevant data and trends with Sr. Director to include in required briefings, area reports, end of semester/year reports, and other requests from the Dean of Student Life or other university leadership

Other duties as assigned

  • Some night and weekend work required

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, social work, public health or related field.
  • 3-5 years direct supervision of full-time employees.
  • Experience in assessment and data collection.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with college aged students.
  • Experience using Advocate, Maxient and Starfish.
  • Three to five years of experience in higher education or closely related setting; experience managing response to crisis situations; experience working as part of case management support team and experience navigating complex, decentralized environments.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of online student tracking systems and database management.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, ability to quickly synthesize information from a variety of sources in order to make informed recommendations for the best welfare of the students.
  • Knowledge of current case management trends and literature preferred.
