Job Summary
The incumbent provides critical support in a fast-paced, lively and collegial atmosphere. He/she performs a wide range of complex and challenging administrative duties within the Department of Athletics.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the mission and institutional statement of the University and the Department of Athletics
Knowledge of the higher education advancement enterprise, with particular understanding intercollegiate athletics
Knowledge of modern office practices, business English, professional dress, decor, procedures and management principles
Knowledge of budget preparation and management
Excellent communication skills
Good critical thinking and time management skills
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to prioritize and keep accurate records
Ability to collaborate with a wide range of people
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of sensitive materials
Ability to perform assigned responsibilities, duties and tasks with minimal to no supervision
Essential Job Functions
Compose and prepare correspondence
Supervise work study students
Schedule meetings and prepare monthly calendars
Greet Guests
Assists with contingency planning, arranges agendas, prepares meeting materials, etc.
Prepare travel requests and reimbursements
Create purchase requisitions in the Banner system and monitor until approved
Create postings and hiring proposals in PeopleAdmin
Create EPAFS in the Banner system
Input leave, personal and sick for the department
Represents the Director of Athletics in communications with administrators, staff, subordinates, students and the university community
Assists the Athletics Business Office with ticketing related functions
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, communications/marketing, accounting, education or related field
Five (5) years relevant experience in the public or private sector, preferably in higher education, for-profit or not-for-profit industry.
