Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Provides supplementary instructional support to students in all levels of classes as they utilize the Media Arts Equipment Room for equipment and edit their projects in the editing suites.
Purchases equipment for all Media Arts and Studies production courses and develops and maintains booking & scheduling systems (software/hardware). Includes researching all equipment necessary to facilitate instructional and production-related needs, seeking bids from approved vendors, consulting with and overseeing vendors for completion of work, and overseeing and coordinating the annual omnibus proposal and requests to support classroom instruction of our Media Arts and Studies courses.
Develops and maintains inventory database utilizing bar code tracking of resources including equipment on loan and fixed/permanent equipment and supplies
Coordinates hiring of staff including temporary employees, student assistants, and college work study (typically a staff of ca. 8 people). Posts job announcements, interviews, secures approval for compensation. Supervises and trains teaching/production assistants for all production-related courses; conducts annual faculty boot camps for training and standardization strategies on equipment, workflow, policies, and procedures.
Develops, establishes and ensures compliance with policies and procedure in consultation with Media Arts and Studies faculty. Establishes strategies and monitors efficiency in direct support of course instruction. Includes creating workflows corresponding with current industry trends and best practices.
Establishes and prepares academic-year lab schedule. Creates open-edit and check in/out availability based upon courses and staff availability.
Maintains Nexis shared media server. Sets up workspaces for students, faculty and staff. Oversees annual updates and support agreements with Avid.
Maintains all equipment and facilities within the Media Arts and Sciences production area.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Unique Duties
Needs to be able to walk and stand during the day. Should be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Some evening and weekend work is required.

Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Media Studies, Media Arts or a related field from an accredited college or university. Master's degree preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Requires 3 or more years prior experience with production gear rental house management or related industry. Supervisory experience is desired.
Must have experience with equipment inventory management and maintenance, understanding of production workflow processes and scheduling, and the capacity to provide instructional support to faculty and students. Must be capable of training staff.

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the evolving technological requirements for content creation in the media communication and entertainment industries, and for independent creative production.
Practical, hands on knowledge of camera, audio and lighting field equipment. Demonstrated ability to build and operate DSLR's, Mirrorless and Digital Cinema cameras. Experience in gimbal and jib operations, production lighting, wired and wireless audio and monitoring systems. Working knowledge of grip and gaffe departments.

Expert in digital workflows specific to media production from acquisition to delivery. Experience in Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and other auxiliary software applications. Must have Macintosh Operating System experience.
