College of Lake County is seeking a dynamic professional to join our Career and Job Placement Center! The Apprenticeship Program Navigator (APN) actively recruits and engages with prospective students, their families, area high schools, local employers, and community partners to build awareness of CLC's Apprenticeship Program. The APN will foster a college-going identity, and create connections to CLC and the Apprenticeship Program as one of the top choices in higher education. In this role, the APN will serve as a point person for prospective students exploring apprenticeships as a career option and establish a caseload of incoming and current students who have expressed an interest or committed to participating in the Apprenticeship Program. The APN is responsible for providing a personalized, culturally relevant onboarding experience for incoming students though a holistic approach to student support during college and apprenticeship activities, academic readiness and successful transition into the Apprenticeship Program enrollment.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience in higher education or higher education institution, secondary education, and/or human resources
Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal, presentation, computer (word processing, internet, email, database) and organizational skills
Ability to work flexible hours including some evening and weekend hours, consistent with student and program needs
Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to work with diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of high school and community college students, faculty, and staff.
A valid driver’s license.

Special Instructions Summary: Please provide a presentation on how you would improve and promote the Apprenticeship Program to prospective Apprentices.This is a grant funded position; continued employment in this position is based on external funding sources. Pay Rate: $47,488/yr

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and may require working evenings and weekends based on the needs of the department.

Summary of Essential Functions:
Student & Customer Service - 65%

1) Recruitment and engagement of prospective CLC students (High School or Adult Learners)· Develop and execute outreach and recruitment activities in support of the apprenticeship program and employer needs· When working with prospective applicants/students, educate applicant on the benefits of the program, build awareness of career options and pathways, and foster a college-going identity through one-on-one, group, and written communication· Customize delivery of information to meet the needs of varying audiences including high school students, parents, significant other, high school counselors, local employers, and community organizations· Connect prospective students to alternative methods of exploring apprenticeship programs at CLC, such as on-campus tours, in person or virtual employer site visits and informational interviews and other events that highlighting academic programs and career options· Utilizes college and career exploration tools and one-on-one coaching to build student confidence in their decision to attend college and to pursue an apprenticeship· Collaborate with CJPC, and College Career Navigators (CCNs) to develop and maintain a pool of prospective applicants· Execute targeted communication strategies and campaigns across multiple communication modalities (call, email communication, text messaging, mailings, in-person appointments) to facilitate the student decision to participate in the apprenticeship program and attend CLC · Design and execute recruitment and outreach events which could include parent programming in high schools and community settings, apprenticeship awareness workshops, and information sessions for return to work or working adults· Assist with student application to CLC and college readiness assessment2) Program Advising & Student Support· Effectively navigate conversations with potential students to discover the student’s story and identify potential internal and external obstacles or barriers to enrollment. Work with student to identify solutions through resources available at the college and elsewhere.· Review with apprentice applicant the appropriate Curriculum Map and discuss structure of selected program· Discuss with applicant the structure, benefits and expectations/responsibilities of the chosen program· Discuss, review and complete Onboarding Checklist· Provides seamless hand-off from APN onboarding to Apprenticeship Specialist for continued holistic support through graduation.· Promote healthy approaches to balancing the demands of college/apprenticeship program and family life to students.

· Serve on college committees and governance as approved by the Director.Project Leadership - 25%1) Case management of incoming students (High school or Adult Learners)· Build rapport and regularly communicate with students who have made the decision to apply to the apprenticeship program and attend CLC from their point of acceptance through the start of the program.· Through the use of phone calls, email, text, in-person meetings, and mailings, guide applicant through the Apprenticeship Checklist· Celebrate students’ achievements and completion of activities and onboarding milestones· Utilize data and technology to run proactive communication campaigns to assist students at different points in onboarding· Track students’ progress by closely monitoring onboarding activity and registration data in real time· Maintain currency in computer/technology skills including Navigate, PeopleSoft, Target X, LancerJobLink, and Microsoft software2) Connect students with CLC community and support services3) Collaborate with other departments to ensure a high-quality recruitment and onboarding experience for students4) Collaborate with high schools CCN Department Operations and Procedures - 10%· Participate in professional development activities· Management of database tools (PeopleSoft, TargetX, etc.)· Work closely with PR/Marketing to identify email campaign opportunities· Collaborate with non-traditional student populations (adult education, other nontraditional)Participation in on-campus experiences as needed
