Position Summary/Purpose of Position: The Associate Director oversees the administrative functions of the Gemstone Program, including supervising the staff. Specifically, the Associate Director manages the team research component of the Program, which includes advising, teaching two courses, recruiting, training, and supervising section leaders, and coordinating a number of processes and events to monitor the progress of the research teams. The Associate Director will support Program functions to maximize student success and develop procedures to enhance Program efficiency. The Associate Director also trains and supports the mentors and librarians who work with the Gemstone teams. Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree is required. At least five years of full-time experience working withundergraduate students in a university setting is required.
Preferences: A Ph.D., in any research-intensive discipline, is highly preferred. Preferred experience includes supervising staff, advising/mentoring/counseling students, teaching undergraduate courses, and conducting original research. Must be able to multitask, plan well, and organize a number of different events and activities. Experience working with living/learning communities is highly preferred.
