Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Title: Head Coach, Dance

Department: Department of Student Activities

Reports to: Director of Student Activites & Rcreational Sports/Camps

Status: Seasonal, Part-time, Non-Benefit Eligible

Position Summary: This position is responsible for management of Benedictine University Dance program.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Develop a Dance program to include choreography.

2. Plan and coordinate all try-outs for the team: including recruitment, advertising, physical clearances and scheduling of space.

3. Schedule and attend try-outs and practices for the team. Ensure that space is secured on campus through Athletics.

4. Maintain a calendar of practices and events including but not limited to the team's presence and support of all Football, Men's and Women's home basketball games and applicable tournaments.

5. Prepare the team for on-campus and university related engagements including but not limited to Homecoming, Pep Rallies, and requested events.

Other Functions
1. Maintain and update rosters and emergency contact information of all team members.
2. Maintain appearance and demeanor that communicates confidence, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferred

Experience: Prior coaching experiences and experience in Athletics or related field is preferred. Is employable under Benedictine University employment policies

Specific Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff and administration. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. College Dance and Dance Competition experience preferred. Setting in Benedictine University campus, Lisle, IL.

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and budget management skills and demonstrated supervisory skills.
Valid driver’s license; CPR/First Aid/ AED certification

Physical Requirements: Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather. Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person. See details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. General Customer service and office environment.

Working Conditions: Office environment. Nights and weekends required.
