The UConn Library is seeking a Recruitment & Organizational Development Assistant to provide specialized support in the areas of recruitment and organizational development for the UConn Library.  Reporting to the Recruitment & Organizational Development Coordinator, the Recruitment & Organizational Development Assistant will independently provide customer service and administrative support through answering general inquiries, data processing, scheduling meetings and other virtual events, logistical support for onsite events, and records management.  The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a high level of demonstrated organizational, reporting, communication, and interpersonal skills.  Strong attention to detail, professional judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides customer service and administrative support under UConn Library’s Organizational Effectiveness. Includes providing general office support such as responding to inquiries and supporting UConn Library staff.
  2. Assists in all aspects of recruitment for the UConn Library; schedules search committee meetings and candidate visits (virtual and onsite), corresponds with candidates and other external audiences, data processing, and provides accurate and detailed record keeping. Identifies and follows up to resolve problems, referring unusual or difficult problems to supervisor.
  3. Provides support for organizational development and diversity programming. Includes providing administrative and logistical support for all activities and events.
  4. Manages the maintenance of the UConn Library’s recruitment and organizational development records. Reviews records for accuracy and provides historical reference by developing and utilizing filing and retrieval systems.
  5. Compiles data and prepares reports used to assess Organizational Effectiveness services and initiatives. Assists in the collection of customer and staff feedback.
  6. Creates staff-facing user guides, populates Organizational Effectiveness updates and information on the Library’s intranet and website as appropriate.
  7. Stays informed of changes to university policies and procedures.
  8. Independently plans, organizes, and implements special projects as needed.

  6. Performs duties parallel to position responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications 

  1. Associate’s degree in a field related to the position. 
  2. Minimum of two years related professional experience.
  3. Demonstrated skill in planning and organization with an aptitude for accurate, organized, detail-oriented work.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to customer service and strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and ability to work collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
  6. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and properly manage sensitive information.
  7. Proven time management and prioritization skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience maintaining content on websites or other related platforms.
  2. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and support change.
  3. Experience with report and presentation creation, including charts, graphical representation of data, and presentation slide design.
  4. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications.
