Job Description: 

The Department of Education and Counseling in the College of Education, Health, and Human Services at Longwood University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor of Education position (F0019) beginning August 2022. The Department seeks a candidate with a strong commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching. Professional responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses. In addition to the primary responsibility of teaching, faculty are also expected to engage in scholarship and professional activity, including undergraduate research, and to make service contributions. 

 

Requirements:

 Required qualifications:

  • D. or Ed.D in Education (Applicants who are ABD may be considered depending on expected completion date)
  • Current teaching license (or eligible for teaching license)
  • Three or more years of experience teaching in an elementary and/or middle school setting
  • Interest and willingness to be actively involved in the delivery of instruction and supervision through off-campus partnerships with local school divisions
  • Evidence of commitment to culturally responsive work with diverse students
  • Evidence of the ability to address social justice and advocacy within a university, school, or community setting
  • Evidence of a commitment to working with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the university mission

 Preferred qualifications:

  • Evidence of scholarship in the form of research and/or presentations at the local, regional, state, or national level 

 

Additional Information:

This position is a full-time, non-tenure-track, instructional faculty, exempt position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position. A successful criminal background investigation is required.
