Job Summary:

The administrative manager will be an integral part of a growing program to promote diversity in science through the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR). Responsibilities include providing administrative and organizational support (ex: organizing sessions, communicating with participants and co-facilitators / guest speakers, overseeing data collection for evaluation) for the Just Research Educational Programs designed to increase the ability of researchers and research teams to implement inclusive research strategies as well as the newly formed ITCR Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Workgroup. Additionally, the manager will facilitate communication and collaboration between ICTR workforce development programs created to support scientists from backgrounds that have been historically underrepresented in the biomedical sciences.

ICTR programs center around building capacity in translational science by training the next generation of biomedical and behavioral scientists; providing investigators and clinicians with the next generation of critical resources including digital technology and data science; and creating novel solutions to disseminate disruptive innovations to improve healthcare practice. Community engagement and the impact of our programs on health equity and health disparities are a pivotal lens for our work.

Responsibilities:

Initiates, develops, and implements operational services that support a defined project, program, work unit, or function to advance program goals and objectives. May supervise staff and/or approve unit expenditures.
  • 30% Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • 30% Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • 25% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • 5% Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • 5% May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • 5% Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors

Qualifications:

Minimum Required Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
-Minimum of 2 years of project management experience (coordinating, facilitating, tracking and reporting the activities of a project or program).
-Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity, including experience working with diverse communities.
-Exceptional interpersonal skills, including verbal communication and attentive listening.
-Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
-Ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.
-Demonstrated team-oriented work style that involves actively seeking input and managing conflict effectively.

Preferred Skills, Experience, Qualifications:
-Authentic interest in equity in science and health.
-Experience with diversity and equity work.
-Experience in academic, especially, academic medicine settings.
-Experience with evaluation research design, data collection and analysis.

Work Type:

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
