RESEARCH DATA SCIENTIST

Minimum $85,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our informatics team in furthering our research and outreach activities. The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is embarking on an exciting mission of establishing state of the art computational, data and informatics infrastructure for supporting cutting edge biomedical research and innovation to care. We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our Informatics team and help us develop data pipelines for clinical and translational research. Under the direction of the Clinical and Health Informatics Institute Data Manager in the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, the incumbent will work independently and with other members of the Clinical Research Data Service to develop and implement clinical data pipelines from operational databases to clinical research data repositories.

Education:

Preferred
Master's Degree

Qualifications:

Required:
-Experience with ETL/ELT in enterprise setting
-Experience working with large datasets in a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP, etc.)
-Experience writing complex SQL and Python code to extract and manipulate data

Preferred:
-Experience with Microsoft Azure Data Factory
-Experience Designing, Building & Maintaining Databases
-Experience with FHIR and HL7 data feeds
-Experience with clinical vocabularies (ICD, LOINC, SNOMED, CPT, etc.)
-Experience with clinical research common data models (OMOP, i2B2, PCORNet)
-Certified in Epic Cogito Clinical Data Model
-Experience with developing Natural Language Processing algorithms
-Experience working with web APIs
-Experience with Power BI

Strong people and communication skills are required. The ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
