As an Ithaca College Security Officer, no two days will be the same
and will include various rotating duties and responsibilities. In
this role, you will use your active listening skills while working
in our dispatch office, answering calls for assistance and relaying
information to officers and others to help and support those in
need. You will demonstrate your attention to detail while
patrolling campus buildings conducting inspections of facilities
for security breaches and fire safety hazards, and performing crime
prevention duties. You will use your effective communication skills
and positive community engagement while directing traffic,
providing crowd control for special events, enforcing parking rules
and regulations, and assisting with fire drills. Every day you will
have the opportunity to engage with a diverse community to provide
positive, supportive, and inclusive interactions.
The initial pay rate is $19.00 an hour with an added $1.50 an hour
for working either 3 pm to 11 pm or 11 pm to 7 am shifts. After
three years, you also have the opportunity to increase your rate of
pay to $20.64 an hour. In addition, generous paid time away
benefits and extra compensation for working holidays.
