Canada Excellence Research Chair in Empowered aging: Well-being, technology, and creativity in every

Canada is experiencing the opportunities and challenges of a major aging revolution. Adapting living environments and technology, public policymaking, as well as leisure, social, health, and community services to address the needs and preferences of a diverse population of older adults, living in this moment, has become critically important.

Empowered Aging considers growing old as an active and evolving life journey wherein ‘good health’ is not simply defined by the absence of disease or illness, but rather as an ongoing process of determining how to live one’s own best life in various contexts including long term care, aging in place, etc. Concordia University invites applications for a strategic, research-intensive Canada Excellence Research Chair in Empowered aging: Well-being, technology, and creativity in everyday lives.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional scholar and proven leader. They will join our existing network of researchers at Concordia focused on all aspects of aging and attract future experts to collectively advance an ‘integral’ approach to the study of aging––one where researchers working within various paradigms and methods are brought together to create an interrelated network that is mutually enriching. The ideal candidate is expected to promote the direct involvement of older adults and other relevant community stakeholders in the formulation of relevant research agendas and in the planning and execution of knowledge mobilization activities.

Concordia’s current strengths in aging studies are highlighted within our innovative, collaborative and interdisciplinary engAGE Centre for Research on Aging, comprised of researchers from the faculties of Arts and Science, Fine Arts, the Gina Cody School of Engineering, and the John Molson School of Business. Montreal also boasts a vibrant and collegial network of inter-institutional aging research centres including CREGÉS, CRIUGM, VIES and RQRV.
