The Director of Curriculum and Instruction provides leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review, and evaluation of all programs, services, and instructional collaborations offered by the Columbia University Center for Veteran Transition and Integration. The Director ensures that the Center’s educational objectives and programmatic initiatives are aligned with the Center’s mission and that all interventions are delivered within the framework of best pedagogical practice. In addition to overseeing several of the Center’s signature online curricula and acting as lead facilitator for the Center’s education and training initiatives, the Director also takes the lead on educating the broader community about the Center’s services and program offerings.Responsibilities

Oversees the curriculum for all of of the Center’s
four signature MOOC curricula: Attaining Higher Education,
University Studies for Student Veterans, Find Your Calling, and
Supporting Veteran Success in Higher Education;
Serves as the lead instructor for two of of the
Center’s four signature MOOC curricula: University Studies for
Student Veterans and Supporting Veteran Success in Higher
Education;
Serves as the lead facilitator for a broad range of
education, support, and training initiatives offered by the Center
– both in-person and virtual – serving student veterans, higher
education professionals, institutions of higher learning, and
veteran service organizations;
In partnership with the Director of Higher Education
Transition:

Oversees the design, implementation, and assessment of
innovative programs and collaborations to promote successful
transition for service members and veterans to, through, and beyond
college;
Oversees the design, implementation, and assessment of
innovative programs and collaborations that build capacity for
partner institutions (colleges, universities, veteran service
organizations) supporting transitioning service members and
veterans;
Oversees the design, implementation, and assessment of
innovative programs and collaborations to build education and
career support for military spouses;

Partners with the Columbia Center for Teaching and
Learning to design, develop, implement, and maintain
state-of-the-art programming that utilizes multiple modalities and
creates access for thousands of service members and veterans in
transition across the country;
Takes lead on identifying and authoring RFP and grant
proposals that support the work of the Center, and assists in the
management of grant-funded programmatic work;
Identifies, participates in, and speaks at relevant
industry/sector/area conferences, symposia, workshops, and events
for the purpose of organizational evangelism and broadening the
Center’s network of partners and collaborators. Develops and leads
facilitated discussions related to service member and veteran
transition.
Partners with General Studies Administration on donor
specific reporting and Sponsored Project Administration reporting
requirements as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-7 years related experience required. Advanced degree preferred
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and management and task facilitation
- Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
- Strong public speaking ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience or work with or in a higher education field
- Five or more years of military-related experience or experience working with veteran service organizations
