Associate Producer
Join our community and experience Emerson College!

The HowlRound Associate Producer works directly with the HowlRound Creative Producer and the rest of the team to provide producing support to HowlRound's programs. The Associate Producer supports the HowlRound Journal, HowlRound TV, the National Playwright Residency Program, and in-person convenings. They report to the HowlRound Creative Producer.

The HowlRound Associate Producer is a key member of the HowlRound Theatre Commons team, with responsibilities that touch almost every aspect of the organization. Their main responsibility is to provide producing support for all of HowlRound's programs, particularly the Journal, HowlRound TV, the National Playwright Residency Program, in-person convenings, and the Advisory Council. In conversation with the Producer and the rest of the staff, the Associate Producer helps shape the trajectory of our work and the organization itself.

We are looking for a driven, detail-oriented collaborator who is able to hold and execute multiple high-priority projects at a time. The Associate Producer should have some experience in the arts, the nonprofit sector, and/or event production, but they should also be curious and willing to learn on their feet. As a values-driven organization, we are looking for someone whose personal values are in line with HowlRound's, and who is passionate about advancing those values in the theatre field.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the HowlRound journal through managing communications with contributors to the HowlRound platform including creating and coding contracts, tracking calendar deadlines for articles and author payment status, and editing as needed
  • Support the management of the National Playwright Residency Program
  • Support producing convenings and in person events and provide continued support after the gatherings


Your Other Responsibilities:
  • Support HowlRound TV through livestreaming and outreach
  • Serve as primary liaison with the HowlRound Theatre Commons Advisory Council
  • Project manage special initiatives as they arise in partnership with the HowlRound team
  • Other duties as assigned


Your Skills and Experience:
  • Working knowledge of and/or deep appreciation for the transformative power of theatre and performance
  • Demonstrated alignment with HowlRound's core values
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • The ability to multitask and work as part of a collaborative team in a fast paced environment
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, computer proficient, and adaptable
  • Experience producing theatre, conferences, and/or other live events
  • 1-2 years in the arts or not-for-profit sector
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

Nice to have:
  • Experience copy editing to a style guide and providing content direction
  • Working knowledge and understanding of HowlRound's place in the theatre landscape
  • Knowledge of and passion for commons-based approaches
  • Contracting experience
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working one on one with artists to achieve their vision

Grade of Position: A15E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Salary: $52,200.00
