The Department of Elementary Education, Early Childhood, and Special Education at Emporia State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position, located in the Emporia, Kansas area. The appointment will commence in August 2022.

Position Summary:

The position will involve teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses including face-to-face and online courses. Graduate advising in the Early Childhood Unified program is required. Other teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on the education and professional experience of the candidate. Service and scholarship are also required.

Required Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have the education and related professional experience in Early Childhood Special Education and/or Early Childhood Unified.

  • A doctorate degree in Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Unified, Early Childhood, Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Early Childhood, or a related doctorate with an emphasis in early childhood education
    • Applicants in a doctoral program with a completion date identified are encouraged to apply. A successful applicant who does not possess a doctorate at the time of appointment will be hired as an instructor until successful completion of the degree.
  • A minimum of five years of successful early childhood special education and/or early childhood unified teaching experience in an accredited school.
  • Hold or have held an early childhood special education and/or early childhood unified teaching license.
  • Training in research-based approaches to teach and assess young children from Birth-3rd

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to applicants who hold
  • Experience teaching at the university level in the area of early childhood, early childhood special education for early childhood unified education majors, and experience supervising early childhood student internships in practicum or clinical experiences
