Shepherd University: Shepherd University, established 1871, is a state-supported institution located in the Shenandoah Valley and on the banks of the Potomac River in historic Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The oldest town in the state, Shepherdstown is a quaint and thriving university town connected to a larger, vibrant business and cultural community. Description of Program: The Department of Business Administration is an IACBE accredited program in the College of Business. The COB includes the Accounting, Business Administration, and the Economics & Finance departments, and has academic oversight and responsibility for the MBA program. The Business Administration program at Shepherd University offers a B.S. in Business Administration and an MBA. The Department of Business Administration has six full-time faculty members, numerous adjunct faculty members, 300+ majors and 100+ minors. Shepherd University places a high priority on excellence in teaching, student interaction, and service with an appropriate level of intellectual contributions.

Preferred Experience:  A J.D., Ph.D. or D.B.A from an accredited institution with a background in business law.  The ability to teach other courses in business administration is a plus. ABDs who are close to finishing will also be considered. The candidates should have a desire to teach applied classes supported by technology; and, a willingness to build creative learning environments with other academic disciplines. Experience with advising student groups, organizing business competitions, and business community outreach should also be noted by candidates.

Job Expectations: The new assistant professor is responsible for duties as outlined in the Shepherd University Faculty Handbook. (http://www.shepherd.edu/faculty-handbook/). The teaching load is a 4-4 but typically spread over a relatively low number of total students. Salary and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience; Teaching schedules are flexible, but the full-time position does require an on-campus presence for face-to-face interaction with students and faculty. Occasional evening and weekend activities may be necessary for student activities and community outreach events.
