Head Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

Employment Status: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY:
The Head Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Coach is responsible for administering, promoting, coordinating, and continually improving the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs. The Head Coach will also be responsible for additional administrative duties within the Athletic Department. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Fulfill all tasks attendant to the overall management of the men's and women's cross country and track & field programs and do so in a manner that is consistent with the educational mission of Lasell University, and embodies the educational philosophies of the Department of Athletics and the National College Athletic Association (NCAA).
  2. Promote the positive development and growth of student-athletes: academically, athletically and personally.
  3. Monitor academic progress of student-athletes to insure eligibility and progress towards a degree.
  4. Recruit and retain student-athletes for the men's and women's cross country and track & field teams in accordance with Lasell University and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Guidelines.
  5. Coordinate all practice and training sessions for the cross country and track & field teams and prepare the team for competition.
  6. Understand and adhere to all Lasell University, NCAA and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bylaws, rules, policies and protocols.
  7. Provide input to the Director of Athletics regarding team budget and manage budget effectively.
  8. Work collaboratively with all professional members of the Lasell Community; and all members of the Athletic Department, including: athletic trainers, Director of Athletic Communications and event management staff.
  9. Assume other administrative duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: Assistant coaches and student team managers.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB
Minimum Education level: Bachelor's Degree

Computer skills: Microsoft Office

Other Requirements of the Job: Prior coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level; knowledge of NCAA Division III guidelines; and desire to build a strong Division III program, are required qualities. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the developmental education of student-athletes, sportsmanship, a strong work ethic, organizational skills, computer skills, and the ability to interact professionally within the department, the campus, and the community.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required.
