Manager of Enterprise Applications

Position Purpose: The Manager of Enterprise Applications provides strategic, functional, and technical management to the team delivering enterprise applications services including Colleague student, financial aid, student finance, human resources, and finance. This position combines managerial responsibilities with in-depth, hands-on technical expertise.

  • Essential Job Functions:

  • Develops good professional relationships with the user community in managing the ongoing evolution of ERP use and modernization.
  • Effectively manages projects and resources to articulate project demands, recommend priorities, and provide project updates while adhering to established timelines.
  • Hire, supervise, train, and mentor programming staff. Determine deadlines, assign, and direct work. Evaluate performance of staff and ensure standards for quality and quantity of work are met.
  • Provide system analysis, problem-solving support, and programming support to ensure efficient and effective use of the ERP in support of university goals and objectives.
  • Assist with the evaluation of third-party software packages and vendors to determine usefulness and compatibility with existing technology. Oversee the ERP interface with these applications.
  • Provide support and management for the system administration of the ERP. Resolve system issues with the support of the system administration, Colleague teams, and external resources.
  • Perform analysis and provide programming support for limited functional areas. Analyze, design, and develop processes and procedures to fulfill requirements; write detailed and accurate technical requirements, program, test, train, and document. Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve issues in the owned functional areas.
  • Oversee the implementation of internal system process improvements and quality assurance methodologies.


  • Essential Job Requirements:

    Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree required in computer science or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
    Experience:
    • At least 3 years of full-time work experience in information technology and/or related functions.
    • Absolute trustworthiness with high standards of personal integrity (demonstrated by an unblemished career history, complete lack of criminal convictions, etc.), and willingness to undergo vetting and/or personality assessments to verify this.
    • At least 3 years of management and technical experience in higher education working with an ERP, preferably Colleague.
    Skills:
    • Highly organized and self-driven, with the ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment across a portfolio of projects and technologies.
    • Ability to manage, direct, and motivate employees.
    • Experience with project management, project prioritization, and resource allocation.
    • Understanding of software life cycle and feasibility of system upgrades to manage the timely and non-disruptive implementation of updates to provide system usefulness and reliability.
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills including the ability to convey technical information in a meaningful and understandable way.
    • Knowledgeable of higher education systems, including understanding the software and the associated business processes, preferably with the Colleague ERP.
    • Experience with reporting tools such as the Entrinsik Informer report writer.
    • Familiarity with data integration and API programming.
