Summary

Provides strategic leadership and oversight of civic, community and special interest interaction and outreach initiatives for the University of Houston System. Participates in strategic planning and analysis, as well as budget planning.

Job Duties

1. Directs and participates in the planning and implementation of Houston area community engagements and other special events.

2. Collaborates with the Executive Director to create overall action plans to develop new and improve existing UH/UHS relationships with other civic, community, non-governmental organizations, and special interest associations.

3. Oversees and directs the marketing of campus activities to community and special interest groups; oversees logistical planning for community service projects and events; and maintains a daily awareness of the campus community climate via multiple forms of media.

4. Oversees the development of the public schedule and attends community and special events with the, or on behalf of the Executive Director and/or The VC/VP of Governmental Relations.

5. Collaborates with outside special interest organizations.

6. Identifies and recommends high profile opportunities for the departments and/or universities participation

7. Under the direction of the Executive Director, partners with members of the leadership team and serves on internal/external committees to establish and achieve organizational goals.

8. Develops strategies to connect student organizations, faculty and staff with community and/or special interest groups to support or further their organizational goals.

9. Creates metric system to measure community engagement outcomes and impacts to the community.

10. Under the Direction of the Executive Director creates a strategic plan for Community Relations initiatives.

11. Collects data on community engagement efforts and generates reports for UH leadership.

12. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 5 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
