Job Summary
The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies (DRCLAS) Communications Manager is a high-performing member of the DRCLAS team focusing on the Center's digital communications strategy. The position will manage an existing stream of communications as well as propose and implement new streams for multiple audiences: Harvard faculty, students and alumni, advisors, donors and prospects, educational and governmental institutions, the press, and the general public.
The person in this role will work closely with all DRCLAS team members to develop effective print and digital products, from concept to completion. The portfolio includes marketing and branding, event promotion, newsletters, reports, press releases and correspondence, occasional publications, and maintenance of DRCLAS social media platforms.

Additional Qualifications and Skills
- To be successful in this role, the manager must have impeccable writing and communication skills, be highly organized, detail-oriented, and independent, have strong interpersonal skills, have the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and remain calm under pressure. An interest in Latin America or work in higher education is a plus. Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is greatly preferred. Demonstrated project management, writing, and editing are critical core requirements. Experience working in digital media management systems, Loomly in particular, is strongly preferred.
- Strong Interest in community building and audience engagement
- Demonstrated experience and interest in audience feedback, user data, and testing and learning to improve communications and outcomes
- Experience with email service providers (MailChimp, etc.), Microsoft Sharepoint; OpenScholar, InDesign, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with video and audio editing a very strong plus
- Experience working in higher education is a plus
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is greatly preferred

Position Description

- Social Media: Curate and implement the Center's social media
(Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube); identify and develop
digital content and storytelling opportunities; create and manage
editorial calendar; work with overseas offices to create cohesive
messaging
- Asset Creation: Create digital assets, posters presentations,
activity calendars, reports, and weekly digital email distribution
including content, layout, design, and post-production; as
appropriate, find new and creative ways of reaching target
audiences
- Writing, editing, and content management: work with DRCLAS
faculty and staff to write, edit, design/layout, produce and
distribute content across multiple platforms and to multiple
audiences
- Podcast: Work with the Faculty Director and Editor-in-Chief of
ReVista to produce a monthly podcast on issues facing Latin
America.
- Coordinate the work with program directors, overseas teams, and
interns. Guide team on best practices for digital
communications.
- Other duties as required in support of DRCLAS activities
