The Department of Art at Skidmore College invites applications from qualified individuals for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor with a specialization in fiber beginning in the Fall of 2022. The successful candidate will teach Fiber Arts I and Fiber Arts III in the Fiber Arts area.

Qualifications:

M.F.A. or record of extraordinary creative/professional achievement in fiber arts or relevant discipline/field. Degree at time of application or official notification of the completion of the degree by August 1, 2022. Strong creative/professional record as demonstrated by portfolio of work and C.V. Ability to collaborate with faculty and students across multiple discipline-specific program areas. Prior teaching experience and/or training is preferred.

Skidmore College is a highly selective liberal arts college of 2680 students located 3 hours between Manhattan, NY and Montreal, Canada. The college is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

The Studio Art curriculum emphasizes a fine art perspective developed through skillful practice and offers concentrations in Ceramics, Photography, Communication Design, Digital Media, Fiber Arts, Printmaking, Sculpture, Jewelry and Metals, Painting, and Drawing.
