Position Title:            Assistant Director – Continuing Education

Reports To:                Director, Continuing Education

Department:             Continuing Education

                       

Primary Purpose:  The Assistant Director of Continuing Education works under the direction of the Director and is responsible for the creation, facilitation, and evaluation of programs.   Major areas of oversight include noncredit and credit career pathway programs, early college high school programs, corporate and professional development training programs, and leisure/community programs.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Works with the Director to develop goals, objectives, and strategies for the division of Continuing Education.
  2. In collaboration with the Director and faculty, develop, implement, and evaluate new non-credit to credit career pathways that align with regional/state economic development initiatives and employer needs.
  3. Works with industry partners and faculty to identify and help lead the development of viable micro-credentials.
  4. Helps to enhance and build industry connections to expand customized contract opportunities for employers and associations.
  5. Directs and oversees Enrollment and Advising Specialist and Program Support Specialist.
  6. Oversees schedules and manages credit course offerings for fall, winter, spring, and summer for continuing education.
  7. Works with Director to recruit, supervise, and evaluate instructional staff and support personnel in Continuing Education.
  8. In collaboration with the Director, facilitates partnerships with school districts, community organizations, art councils, and other non-profit organizations to enhance and expand community programming and events for lifelong learners.
  9. Collaborate with the Office of Communications and vendors to assist in promoting continuing education programs and events through print, website, social media, and onsite campus activities.
  10. Creates, monitors, and manages individual course and program budgets in collaboration with the Director and business office staff and participates in budget planning.
  11. Ensures compliance and adheres to college catalog, policies, and procedures.
  12. Represents Cazenovia College at community and regional organizations, civic organizations, and partnerships as appropriate. Serves on local/regional committees and/or boards as needed.
  13. Evaluates instructional effectiveness, customer satisfaction, and internal processes and develops strategies for continued program/process improvement.
  14. Helps coordinate and maintain relationships with current community college partners as well as research and establish new college partnerships based on student interest and community needs.
  15. Collaborates with Enrollment and Advising Specialist and liaisons to coordinate information sessions, scheduling of classrooms, and student advisement at community college and other sites.
  16. Maintains and reviews program data and helps to prepare required reports as requested by Director.
  17. Orients new part and full-time continuing education office staff and adjunct faculty.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree required, with a minimum of five years’ experience in higher education, or master’s degree in related field with a minimum of three years experience.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office.  Knowledge of Colleague a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies within a flexible work environment.
