Position Summary:
The Department of Political Science at Arkansas State University invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Public Administration with an emphasis in Non-Profit Management. The NASPAA-accredited MPA program at A-State has approximately 200 students and is delivered in both traditional and online formats. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in assessment, program management or design, and robust teaching experience with diverse student populations. Candidates need to complete all the requirements of a Ph.D. in public administration (or related field) by June 1, 2022, or until the position is filled. Remote work options will be considered.
Duties & Responsibilities:

Manages the program assessment
process at both the university and accrediting body (NASPAA or the
Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration)
levels, including coordinating faculty work in related duties and
further developing and/or refining assessment measures
Coordinates the provision of the
Nonprofit Management Track for the program, including recruiting
and recommending faculty to teach the courses and handling student
inquiries about the track
Teaches courses in the program; must
be able to teach all nonprofit courses and may teach other courses
as needed, including MPA Capstone
Serves as lead Nonprofit Track
instructor; develops and coordinates the distribution of academic
policies, procedures, and initiatives for the track in conjunction
with the MPA Director
Evaluates all student files for
online mode program admission; refers complex cases to the MPA
Director or discusses with the MPA Director as needed
Manages the provision and scheduling
of online courses in coordination with the MPA Director, Political
Science Chair, A-State Online Services (AOS), and Political Science
Administrative Assistant, as needed
Assists the MPA Director with the
development of program policies; fills in for the MPA Director as
needed
Assists with recruiting adjunct
instructors
Performs other related duties as
needed

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required or applicable to the position responsibilities and area of specialization including special abilities
General Days/Hours:
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed. Regular and reliable
attendance and communication is highly important for this
position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Public Administration or Political Science. Degree must
either be in hand or, if ABD, completed within one year of the
start date

commitment to public service
