The School of Nursing facilitates the learning process of students in achieving the Doctor of Nursing Practice, the Master of Science with an emphasis in education and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degrees.   The school currently manages recruitment, admission and retention of 230 undergraduate and 90 graduate students.  National Accreditation is maintained to ensure delivery of quality nursing education.

Description of Job

This full-time 12 month Visiting Nursing Faculty position has a 100% Administrative Professional release. The position focuses on Coordination with agencies, facilitating student placement, associated site visits and paper work, oversight of clinical instructors, participating in School of Nursing meetings and willing to share a call schedule are some of the key elements

All responsibilities of faculty members at CSU-Pueblo are in accordance with the Faculty Handbook. The Faculty Handbook is the authoritative guide on specific requirements with regard to teaching assignments, scholarly activity, research, and service.

Primary Duties
Assist the undergraduate coordinator to make clinical rotation schedules and recruit clinical adjunct faculty.  Complete grids for clinical rotations.  Track and facilitate clinical make-up, student improvement plans, and probation.  Collaborate with lead instructors to develop clinical evaluation tools and plans to provide skills check for transfer and remediation students. Arrange with agencies for student scheduling.  Meet with facility nurse educators and appropriate directors to discuss student experience and review the facility evaluations

Available for a shared call (24/7) to respond to adjunct instructor questions by cell phone/text and to assist in all student clinical issues.  Visit clinical groups on-site at least once during the rotation interviewing students, staff, and administration. Schedule and attend student orientations.  Ensure all compliance requirements are met as determined by each clinical agency.  Make on-site visits to all the clinical facilities and specialty clinical sites

Obtain space for pre and post conferences.
Assist the new instructors with grading assignments and completing evaluations in conjunction with course leads. Visit clinical groups on-site at least once during the rotation interviewing students, staff, and administration.

Address the training needs of adjunct faculty. Facilitate orientation for new clinical instructors.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters of Science in Nursing or Masters of Science with Major in Nursing
  • Unrestricted RN in Colorado or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications
  • Two year’s clinical teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • DNP or PhD
  • Nurse educator courses (9 credits or more)
  • Two years administrative experience in nursing

Condition of Employment
