This position is responsible for keeping all University and related buildings safe and operational by performing routine maintenance on various systems. Contacts are with personnel at all levels within the organization to exchange information as well as our sub-contract companies.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :

  • Performs general maintenance for lighting, plumbing and electrical systems as well as minor HVAC repairs.
  • Performs minor changes within the University buildings
  • Works on and orders materials for small projects and renovations
  • Works on painting and repairs during University semester breaks and summer breaks for the Magnet Schools
  • Ensures all safety procedures are practiced and conducts routine safety discussions.
Other Functions :
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
  • Knowledge of the proper operation of Maintenance equipment and related duties and responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in a number of skills, such as lighting, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Mechanical skills and the ability to use hand tools
Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience :
  • High school diploma or GED with two years of relevant experience in building maintenance.
Special Requirements :
  • Valid Driver License & Insured Vehicle
