JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Indianapolis Department of Theatre in the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences seeks applicants for an Associate Adjunct Professor.

Teaching responsibilities are up to 21 hours per year and will include the Scenic and Lighting Design sequences, Stagecraft, Introduction to Theatre Design, as well as credit for managing the scene shop. Other responsibilities may include shared staff on duty responsibilities for performances, mentoring student projects, and overseeing capstone experiences. There is also the opportunity for an additional 1-2 contracts per year for designing mainstage productions.

UIndy is located minutes from downtown Indianapolis’s vibrant arts scene. The Department of Theatre maintains a close relationship with numerous professional and professionally managed theatres providing opportunities for faculty members to design outside the university. The department also hires local professional designers and actors as adjuncts or guest artists, allowing for a collaborative relationship on campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaching up to 21 hours per year, including courses such as: Scenic and Lighting Design sequences, Stagecraft, Introduction to Theatre Design, as well as credit for managing the scene shop
  • Sharing staff on duty responsibilities for performances, mentoring student projects, and overseeing capstone experiences
QUALIFICATIONS
  • MFA in Theatre or a related field is required
  • 1 - 2 years of applicable university teaching and/or professional experience including industry standard computer applications
